The Four Things Every Woman Should Put in Place Before Anything Else
By Tina Chagoury, Clinical Dietitian · 4 min read · 2026-10-19
If a woman asked me where to begin, and I had only a few minutes, this is what I would say.
If a woman asked me what to put in place first to start feeling better, and I had only a few minutes, this is exactly what I would say. Four things.
1. Be stable
Consistent meal timing. Three meals.
Put them in your calendar. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. That is all I am asking.
Stability is the foundation everything else is built on, and it is the thing most women do not have. Not because they cannot, but because meals are the first thing to be dropped when a day gets full.
2. Stabilise your blood sugar, which means stop the constant snacking
The small ones. A sweet from here, a biscuit from there, a date, an apple, a banana.
Snacking all day long harms your gut health, keeps insulin permanently elevated, and prevents the digestive cleaning cycles that only run between meals.
You need to be paying attention to this. It is not the occasional indulgence that causes the problem. It is the constant grazing that never lets anything settle.
3. Stop overtraining your body
Especially stop training on a tired, sleepless body.
Stop setting your alarm for five in the morning regardless of how your night went, regardless of how stressed you are, regardless of where you are in your cycle.
Rest, sleep and recovery are more important than the session you forced yourself through. Training hard on top of a body that has not recovered adds to the load rather than improving your health.
Underfed and overtrained is the most common and least productive combination there is.
4. Stop trying to out-supplement your problems
This is the most important one, and the one people least want to hear.
You do not sleep. You do not drink water. You eat deliveries all day long. And you are searching for the perfect supplement combination. You want the intravenous drip. You want the new compound made of something or other that has just started trending.
It will not work. It will simply overburden your liver.
What women forget
The most essential things for a woman's hormones and her body are the free ones.
Sleep. Hydration. The food you choose. Stability. Consistency. Stress management.
I know that listing them this way makes them sound easy. In practice they are not. Not remotely.
But if you are going to put effort into something, put the effort here.
Why this order
Notice that none of these four require a diagnosis, a laboratory or a purchase. They are available to you tomorrow morning.
They are also the four things that determine whether anything else you do works. Testing is more useful once these are in place. Supplements are more effective once these are in place. A protocol holds once these are in place.
Start here. Everything else is built on top of it.
