Hormone tests in Dubai: what to ask for, when to test, and what the results mean
Many women in Dubai search for a “female hormone test package” and get a list of markers with no explanation. A test is only useful if it is the right one, done at the right time, and read in context.
Markers that are commonly discussed
Your doctor decides which tests you need. These are the markers that often come up in women’s hormone and metabolic health:
- Thyroid: a full panel rather than TSH alone
- Insulin and glucose, which can be used to estimate insulin resistance (HOMA-IR)
- Sex hormones such as estrogen, progesterone and testosterone
- Prolactin
- Iron studies and vitamin D
Timing matters
Some hormones change across the menstrual cycle, so the day you test changes the result. Ask your doctor which cycle day and whether fasting is needed for each test.
Where a dietitian comes in
Results are a starting point. Tina reads them alongside your symptoms, eating, sleep and stress to build a nutrition plan. She does not diagnose or prescribe; that stays with your doctor.
Working with Tina one to one online is available through her 6 month Hormone Reset Method™ (HRM™), which includes 3 private consultations with Tina plus ongoing support throughout the program, on Zoom. To start, apply for the program.

Which hormone tests should a woman do?
It depends on your symptoms. Thyroid, insulin and glucose, sex hormones, prolactin, iron and vitamin D are common starting points. Your doctor decides what to order.
Do I need to fast for a hormone test?
Some tests, such as fasting insulin and glucose, need fasting. Others do not. Check with your doctor or the lab for each test.
Why is TSH alone not enough?
TSH is one signal. A fuller thyroid panel gives a more complete picture, which is why it is often worth discussing with your doctor.
Can a dietitian order hormone tests?
Blood tests are arranged by you. The clinics where Tina works offer them, and Tina also has an online home-service lab with a special HRM package in the UAE. Tina reviews your results and works alongside your doctor.
